Phonic Coffee Morning

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our coffee morning, where we explored the foundations of Fresh Start Phonics together!

During the session, we covered key topics such as decoding and blending words, crucial routines in phonics learning. Parents were shown practical strategies for helping their children sound out letters, blend sounds together and read more fluently. These are skills that will build confidence as pupils progress through phonics stages.

We also introduced module writing activities, which are designed to encourage pupils to apply their phonics knowledge in writing words and sentences. This is a fantastic way to reinforce learning, while also supporting their creative and written expression.

In addition, we highlighted some anthologies that are perfect for reading together at home. These curated books, aligned with the phonics program, are engaging and age-appropriate, providing great opportunities to practice reading aloud and build fluency. We encourage parents to read with their child and enjoy these stories together, making reading a fun and shared experience.

We are also excited to invite you to our third session on Monday, 14th October, where we’ll dive deeper into Set 2 and Set 3 sounds and revisit the module activities. Join us for more information, along with coffee and a chance to connect with other parents.
